Description of Company
5 Elements was founded in 2004 by Maeghen Cotterill. Her practice of martial arts began at age 8 and after mastering multiple disciplines, she has been honoured with the title Renshi, “polished, expert instructor who is devoted to the powerful, transformational effects of martial arts”. In her 30+ years practicing martial arts, Maeghen has earned multiple Black Belts (5th Degree in Karate) and is an 11-time Gold Medal World Champion. She has been the WKU Western Canadian Regional Director for the last 4 years, and the President of WKU Canada for Ringsports and Matsports since 2018. She has also been both a member and coach on team Canada since 2005, fulfilling not only her goals of becoming a world champion, but helping others do so as well. Maeghen remains committed to her own journey in the mastery of martial arts while sharing her passion with students of all ages and abilities. Maeghen is the mother of a young autistic son and believes in inclusivity for everyone. She has created a safe and supportive environment where all students can explore their own power and achieve self-discipline, confidence, focus, and fitness through the practice of martial arts.
